Car Salvage Yards

Car Salvage Yards

When you mention an car salvage yard what is the first thing that comes to mind? It probably is grungy ugly men sitting around old worn out furniture, watching an old black and white Telivision with nothing do. In reality nothing could be further from the truth. These are usually the most well thought out, well organized recycling businesses around.

Every one talks of recycling in this day and age, and although this may seem like e a new concept some businesses have been recycling for decades, one of these types of companies is that of car salvage yards. This type of business has been recycling materials for years. Haven’t you ever wondered what happens to vehicles that are no longer safe to drive on the road? It is the car salvage yards that know how to separate dangerous chemicals, glass and steel and have it all recycled. They are the ones that keep these dangerous materials that come from old vehicles and keep them from affecting the water, and the air.

Most salvage yards will work closely with environmental agencies to ensure that these vehicles are being disposed of correctly. Currently salvage yards manage to recover enough steel, and glass material to build millions of new cars, thereby saving new resources from being used. This not only helps the environment but it also helps the consumer save money too.

Many car salvage yards sell used car parts, which in the end help the environment but also save the consumer money. Most of the time, car parts are sold at almost 75% less than what the part would cost new.

When a car comes into the yard all of the hazardous waste is safely removed then all the parts that are salvageable are removed and stored. At this point the vehicle is then crushed and sent to the metal recycling company.

If you look at this type of business from a recycling point of view and look at every process done you will see that each process is a matter of saving and re-using parts that can be used again and safely disposing of those that cant.

It’s a shame that the average vehicle salvage yard has not been recognised for its effort in recycling, or praised for being a long tried and true recycler for many decades. One that began the recycling process long before it became fashionable.

Most of the auto recyclers are now a part of the Internet and have been since the early nineties. They keep much of their inventory online so parts can be sold around the world. There is nothing backward in the way salvage yards are run, they work with cutting edge technology and are always searching out new methods of making both their work more efficient, and of helping the consumer find what he needs quickly, and in a very cost effective manner.
